The importance of teaching children about their emotions
My main job is a specialist children’s mental health nurse, and I cannot stress enough the importance of teaching children to differentiate their own emotions and normalise these. Children often struggle with strong emotions and don’t know how to deal with these emotions – this is often when we see children in mental services, when they are unable to manage and deal with strong emotions.
An easy way to teach your children about their emotions
By watching this film with you child, you can sit and watch it together and discuss with them the different emotions, why they might emerge and normalise these!
